Gemma Lee
Speech Therapist
Gemma was a recipient of the Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Science Overseas Scholarship in year 2008 and subsequently graduated from University of Sydney, Australia with an Honours degree. She started her journey as a Speech Therapist in Singapore General Hospital for several years where she specialised in the areas of speech, language, cognitive and feeding difficulties.
Gemma was the Team Leader of both the neurology and paediatric feeding teams and had worked closely with various healthcare professionals and caregivers to provide holistic care for her clients. She has vast experience in treating clients with speech, language and swallowing disorders. She has years of clinical experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Wards, evaluating and managing preterm and term babies with bottling difficulties. She also supported many parents in the care of infants and toddlers with difficulties in bottling, chewing and acceptance of solids.
She is effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin, which allows her to build rapport with patients and families of different backgrounds. Gemma believes in the improvement and upgrading of skills, knowledge and service delivery. Apart from working on her own learning journey, she implemented various processes to improve the care and safety of patients. Gemma implemented the training modules for the Neonatal nurses in the identification of feeding difficulties in pre-term babies and in training them in appropriate bottling methods. She enjoys working with young children and their family members, supporting them through the assessment and treatment of language abilities. She firmly believes in the importance of early intervention and family support, seeing most rewarding outcomes with combination of both, through nurturing children in both clinics and preschool settings. She believes that every child is unique and has different interests and ways of expressions.
As an avid fitness practitioner herself, Gemma believes in the strength of persistence, and is passionate in empowering her clients in their journey of progress and discovery. She strives to work with families closely, taking into consideration families’ goals and concerns, supporting them.
Gemma is trained in:
- Feeding Therapy: A Sensory Motor Approach
- Talktools: A Three-Part Treatment Plan for Oral Placement Therapy

What Patients Say
Mother of Chloe (5 years old)
Teacher Gemma, a kind and patient professional, played a crucial role in supporting both myself and my daughter throughout our speech therapy journey. Chloe faced challenges with the pronunciation of certain consonants like C, S, L, G, R, Sh, Ch, Th, making words in these categories difficult to articulate clearly. During each session, Teacher Gemma creatively engaged Chloe in activities, drawing her attention to practice pronunciation effectively. Going above and beyond, Teacher Gemma even sent us instructional videos with excellent examples, making our home practice more accessible. With her expert guidance, Chloe now speaks more fluently, mastering the correct pronunciation of words. Chloe has successfully “graduated” from her speech therapy journey, confidently engaging in clear conversations about words that were once challenging for her.

Thank you Magic Beans.
My son’s speech was picking up slower than children of the same age which the childcare teacher & polyclinic staff alerted me on. He could only speak & answer a few words & was not able to say a full sentence. Therefore, I got to know about Magic Beans & decided to give it a try. He was attended by therapist, Teacher Gemma who is professional & attentive to his learning needs, she will always provide me updates after the lesson too. My son’s speech has improved a lot & I can see from his behaviour that he enjoys the lesson & always looks forward to it.
Mother of N (6 years old)
My son has been attending Magic Beans since 2021 for speech therapy. A friend highly recommended us to try. Gemma has been consistently patient and helpful in my son’s journey. He still looks forward to his weekly sessions and his speech has improved by leaps and bounds. Very grateful to the whole team at Magic Beans.
