In her many years of experience, Hui Zhen has worked with children in individual therapy settings as well as in group settings, collaborating closely with parents and teachers to ensure holistic care. She believes in a multidisciplinary approach and advocates working actively alongside other professionals like teachers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and doctors to provide comprehensive support to the child and their family at the centre.
Hui Zhen strongly believes in the effectiveness of therapy when done collaboratively with the family, and tailored to each child’s and family’s unique needs and goals. She adopts a gentle fun and child-directed approach when working with young children, aiming to make a difference one small step at a time, by building on their strengths and interests. Her experience in both the hospital setting and community setting gives her the edge to support the child and family in setting functional goals that can be easily applied across all environment. Hui Zhen values the importance of building a strong relationship with the family, evolving with their needs and accompanying them on their journey. Since becoming a mother, she endeavours to weave therapy goals through play and helps families to incorporate therapy activities within the daily routines, ensuring that therapy will help, not burden, the family. Seeing each child reach their full potential brings her great satisfaction.
