Occupational Therapy
We provide occupational therapy services for individuals across all age groups to address challenges in daily activities and promote independence. Our care extends to infants (including newborns and premature babies post-hospital discharge), young children, preschoolers, school-aged children, as well as adults and the elderly.
Occupational Therapy Assessment
An Occupational Therapist will assess your child or adult’s ability to perform daily activities and identify any challenges related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, and coordination. During your first visit, we will:
- Gather detailed history of your child/adult’s medical background, developmental milestones, and daily routines.
- Conduct a physical examination focusing on fine motor skills, sensory responses, and muscle tone.
- Observe and assess your child/adult performing daily activities such as eating, dressing, and playing.
- Evaluate the environment and caregiver support to identify barriers and facilitators to independence.
- Develop and trial personalized strategies and interventions to improve function and participation in daily life.
Therapy and Treatments
Treatment varies depending on your child and families’ presentation. The frequency and number of sessions will depend on the severity of your child’s feeding difficulty. This will all be discussed in collaboration with the family.
During therapy sessions, caregivers or family members are encouraged to participate, as it is expected that families carry out the intervention in the home environment for best outcomes.
