Yvette Lam

Speech Therapist

Yvette graduated from the National University of Singapore, with a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology in 2018.  She was a scholar with Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS). She began her career at CPAS in 2019, working across both the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) and the CPAS Special Education School. With more than six years of experience, she is skilled with supporting children aged 1 to 18 years old who present with a range of communication needs, including those with global developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, and other complex medical profiles.

Yvette delights in discovering each child’s unique communication style and supporting them on their journey towards becoming confident, autonomous communicators. She believes that genuine connection through child-led, play-based activities lies at the heart of effective therapy. Every session is thoughtfully tailored to the individual child, combining clinical insight with creativity and care.

Her clinical practice spans language development, speech, social communication, and literacy. Yvette has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), which she views as a powerful bridge to verbal communication. She has co-developed and led AAC trainings for educators, focusing on practical classroom implementation. This initiative yielded promising outcomes, which she co-presented at the 2024 Singapore Early Intervention Conference. Yvette has also conducted workshops for parents, caregivers, educators, and allied health professionals on supporting children’s language and communication development.

Committed to lifelong learning, Yvette actively pursues ongoing training to deepen her clinical expertise while being equally passionate about mentoring the next generation of therapists. She has provided clinical education to speech therapy students from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and supervised newly qualified therapists under the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).

Drawing on her school-based experience, Yvette enjoys close collaboration with educators and allied health professionals to facilitate each child’s development holistically. She also values family-centred practice and empowers parents and caregivers with practical strategies to support communication across daily routines, helping to ensure that therapy progress extends meaningfully into home and school life.

Above all, Yvette believes that every child has the capacity to grow with the right support, a nurturing environment, and therapy grounded in evidence-based practice.
