Physiotherapy Assessment
During your first visit, our Physiotherapist will assess your child’s movement, strength, mobility, and physical development to better understand their needs and support their participation in daily activities. During the assessment, we will:
- Obtain a detailed history of your child’s medical condition, development, mobility, and concerns.
- Assess your child’s posture, balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, and movement patterns.
- Observe how your child moves and participates in activities such as walking, play, sport, self-care, or school tasks.
- Perform physical examination and age-appropriate functional assessments to identify areas of difficulty or discomfort.
- Discuss findings and provide recommendations, therapy strategies, and goals to support your child’s development, independence, and overall function.
Therapy and Treatments
Treatment varies depending on your child’s individual needs, goals, and level of physical development. The frequency and duration of therapy sessions will depend on your child’s presentation and will be discussed collaboratively with the family.
During therapy sessions, children are supported through evidence-based and play-based physiotherapy approaches designed to improve strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and overall physical function. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate in sessions to help support ongoing progress and carry over strategies within the home, school, and community environments.
