Zhi Ying, a compassionate and highly skilled Speech Therapist, graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology). Her journey in helping clients began in Sydney, Australia and amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zhi Ying returned to Asia, bringing her expertise to support the community.

Zhi Ying’s professional experience spans both paediatric and geriatric populations, as she has worked with diverse clients in private clinics both in Australia and Asia. Her areas of expertise include individual and group assessment and therapy in communication, cognitive, and swallowing. Zhi Ying derives immense joy from guiding and supporting clients at every stage of their lives to achieve their communication goals and rehabilitate their skills.

Throughout her career, Zhi Ying has gained valuable experience working in various settings, including schools, child-care centres, hospital rehabilitation centres, community clinics, and homes. By collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, Occupational Therapists, Specialist Educators and psychologists, she ensures a holistic and personalized approach to care for her paediatric and adult patients. Zhi Ying strongly believes in cultivating inclusivity, respectfulness, and authenticity in therapy, making Speech Therapy services unique and effective for all.

After a strong recommendation from my son’s paediatrician, we contacted Magic Beans for support with our son who was 3 years old at the time with speech delay. After 8 months of weekly speech therapy, my son’s (all round) progress has been immense and very noticeable to all. The centre offers a team of specialist with various expertise, ranging from occupational therapy to speech therapy. We are here for speech therapy. Everyone said that boys tend to start speaking later. Someone even suggested that non verbal up to 4 yrs old is acceptable. But why wait? If we can afford expensive enrichment classes, we can afford speech therapy to help develop our children’s speech capability. This is the most affordable private centre we have found thus far. These therapies are not just for autistic or ADHD kids. Sometimes even neurotypical kids have developmental issues in their early days. The experts here can potentially help to narrow the gap and lessen frustrations caused by communication challenges. Our assigned therapist is Zhi Ying, she has been exceptionally patient despite the initial challenges. Nine months on, our child has gone from less than 10 words to speaking in short sentences.
